Repoussed Silver Round Lidded Box
Burma
circa 1900

height: 7cm, diameter: 8.5cm, weight: 172g

This fine round silver box and cover is repoussed around the sides with eight panels each filled with a different bird in a different pose. The lid is slightly
domed and has a central panel repoussed in high relief with what is likely to be a king or prince with a consort and perhaps a courtier surrounded by leafy
flourishes. The edge of the scene is decorated with a fine lotus petal border.

The base is plain and unmarked.

The box is in excellent condition and without holes.

It is almost certainly by the same maker of items
4172 and 4173.
