Both the hilt and scabbard of this slim and elegant Caucasian kindjal are decorated with inlaid silver in a bold foliate arabesque design. The steel blade is straight and double-edged with three prominent, well-defined fullers.

The reverse of the scabbard is decorated with a blackened panel, probably leather.

The kindjal is in near-perfect condition with only very minor losses to the silver inlay here and there. The sheaf and hilt come together perfectly and fit tightly.

Dagestan is located in the North Caucasus region on the Caspian Sea. It is overwhelmingly Islamic.
