204. D’Alvarez Silver Casters, India

Pair of Casters by the Madras Firm D’Alvarez & Co

Each of this pair of silver castors has the maker’s mark of ‘D’A & Co’ around the foot rim, for the Madras firm of Lawrence D’Alvarez (born 6.12.1793 and died 13.3.1869).

Made of thick guage silver, the casters are engraved with a scrolling foliage design around an ‘M’ for the owner, and retain a clear gold wash inside.
