An Engraved, Brass Hookah Base

height: 14cm, diameter at base: 15.1cm

This brass hookah base, of flaring bell form, is engraved all over with repeated paisley motifs within floral and geometric bands. The engraving is filled with black lac.

The base sits on three copper feet (a fourth is missing) which appear to have been set with old Mughal coins with Islamic script. This is a fine and elegant example of hookah bases of this type.
