Carved Ivory Burmese Dha Handle or Hilt
Carved Ivory Dha Hilt with Silver Collar
Burma
18th-19th century
length: 16cm
This fine ivory hilt is intricately carved and pierced with trellised open-work around a carved central core. The top of the hilt is decorated with a flower and four figures from Burmese folk lore.
The hilt has a silver collar and is drilled at the base where it was once attached to a blade.
The ivory has a superb yellowy-cream, glossy patina and is in perfect condition.
