Cutch Colonial Indian Silver
Three Miniature or Single-bud Silver Vases
Cutch, India
circa 1885
heights: 7.5cm, 8.7cm, 8.9cm; weights: 49g, 57g, 58g
This delightful trio of miniature or single-bud vases is of finely chased solid silver decorated in a typically Cutch manner with scrolling foliage and flowers against finely tooled backgrounds.
Each vase sits on a low, ring foot; has a squat, bulbous body, and a long, thing neck which rises to an everted mouth.
Each is of similar proportions and with the same essential motifs but with slight differences in the decoration between all three. The same high quality of workmanship is exhibited among all three.
Each is in near-pristine condition, without splits, repairs or dents. The chasing work is sharp also and has not been dulled by polishing.
