Moroccan gold and silver bracelet
Gold & Silver ‘Moon & Sun’ Bracelet
North-West Morocco
19th-20th century
inside diameter: 6cm, weight: 99g
Bracelets such as this example were made in the North-West of Morocco.
It comprises a silver band onto which gold plaques shaped as four-sided pyramids and repoussed with foliage motifs have been attached and secured with silver pins.
The bracelet is hinged with the hinge coming apart via a removable pin which is attached to the bracelet by means of a silver chain.
A similar bracelet but with silver rather than gold plaques is illustrated in Rabate & Goldenberg (1999, p. 54).
The example here has an excellent patina and obvious age. The condition is stable and wearable.
