This small image of the popular elephant-headed deity Ganesh dates to the 17th or 18th century.
It shows Ganesh with a prominent pot belly and four arms, seated on a high, rectangular platform with a flared foot. The lower left hand is holding sweets which the deity is feeding to his trunk.
The image has a dark-chocolate patina, and its features have been worn from puja (ritual prayer) use.
