This very fine and unusual cast bronze image of Garuda shows the deity standing on a lotus pedestal on a square base. The image has been cast with unusual, prominent wings that envelop the upper body. The hands are clasped in anjali mudra. Garuda wears a tall crown, long, earrings and other dress elements.

The contours of the image have been softened and rounded by puja or ritual prayer wear.

Garuda is the hawk mount (vahana) of the god Vishnu.

Overall, this is a very fine and interesting example of Garuda.
