This decorative shallow serving dish is of high-grade silver that has been cast and repoussed with berry and strawberry motifs. (Strawberries are a favourite motif of Ottoman silversmiths.)
The entire dish is in the shape of a leaf – perhaps a grapevine leaf – with serrated edges. The stem pf the leaf is pierced and decorated with a strawberry and a ribbon.
The centre of the interior base has been stamped with a tugra (the symbol of the reigning sultan used as a local silver control mark.)
The dish is without repairs and in excellent condition. The dish is finer and more ‘silvery’ than suggested by the photographs.
