SOAS Handling Sessions in the Gallery this Week

We were delighted this last week to welcome two groups of students taking the Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art at the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), University of London, for a handling session. The students, from the UK, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Ukraine and Spain, were able to handle objects – which they otherwise cannot do – and put their skills to work by taking turns to identify the items, describe how they were made, and where. We have been running such handling sessions for some year now, and they are among the most enjoyable things that we do.
